Event Details
On the 11th March 2011, the east coast of Japan was struck by an undersea earthquake and subsequent tsunami. As well as the loss of life, hundreds of children also lost their parents and families. The charity Aid For Japan was founded by Akemi Tanaka to support the orphans of this event.
To coincide with the ninth anniversary of the tragedy, Aid For Japan is staging a commemorative event. This will be a celebration of Japanese culture which will include History of the Kimono talk, Fudokan Battodo martial arts display and cosplay activities.
The original Japanese Art Festival was an annual event organised by Akemi Tanaka that took place regularly in London during the 2000s. Billed as a celebration of Japanese culture, the event drew in crowds keen to experience both classic and contemporary aspects of Japan.
